Your black licence book is irreplaceable. It holds your entire grading history, along with instructor signatures. If should also contain a record of courses attended if you were careful to record these at the time.
My Black book lives in my training bag. I always have it with me when I train. It’s looking a little battered after 34 years, but I’ve always been very careful to retain that original book.  Â
You can buy a replacement book for £5 – that’s easy. Unfortunately, the contents are irreplaceable.     Â
I already maintain your licence records. I recently started a project to record everyone’s grading history (I may already have photographed your licence for that purpose). Once complete, I should have a complete grading record for all registered students. However, this will take time, and it will never replace those priceless instructor signatures that plotted your progress through Ishinryu.
Please take good care of your licence book.  It really is priceless
